Cerritos Cross Country (2011): Was one of the team’s top two runners and finished in eighth place at the State Championships in a time of 20:24.35, while he took 17^th place in a time of 20:50.55 at the Southern California Championships… Was the third place finisher at the South Coast Conference Championships in a time of 22:15.00, while he was defeated by teammate Daniel Herrera by one second at the Santa Barbara Invitational with a clocking of 21:20 to come in second place… Placed fourth at the SoCal Preview Meet in 20:39.19, while his 8K time of 26:29.90 against four-year competition at the Vanderbilt Invitational earned him a 39^th place finish… Also came in third place at the UC San Diego Opener in 21:53.5…..

Western HS: Selected his school’s Athlete of the Year as a senior after he earned the track and field team’ Most Valuable Player Award… Competed in the 1600 meters (4:24) and 3200 meters (9:26) in track and posted a personal best time of 14:42 in cross country… Was named his team’s MVP all four years… Placed fourth at the CIF Championships as a junior…..

Personal: Most memorable moment was earning the Athlete of the Year award and when he posted a time of 14:42 at the Dana Hills Invitational in cross country… Likes to draw and play soccer in his spare time… Has one sibling – Mustafa, who will be his teammate this season… Is the son of Negib and Zahra Kahssay…..
