Joining the coaching staff for her first season is former
Cerritos College All-American water polo player and swimmer Daisy
Carrillo. In her freshman year on the water polo team in 2006, she
helped the school win their first-ever conference championship,
while she was named 1st Team All-Southern California and the
conference’s Tri-Player of the Year after accounting for 42
goals and a team-high 42 steals. As a swimmer for the Falcons in
2007, she qualified for the State Championships I the 200-yard IM
after coming in second place in the conference championships, while
swimming a leg of the 200-yard medley relay that broke a school
record (since broken).
Carrillo then transferred to Loyola Marymount University, where
she spent three seasons on the water polo team and was named
2nd Team All-Conference as a junior. Additionally, she went on
to play for the Mexican National Team, where she was voted their
Team captain and travelled to Shenzhen, China to participate in the
University Games. Her travels also took her recently to
Guadalajara, Mexico to compete in the Pan American Games.
A graduate of Montebello High, Carrillo was a four-time
1st Team All-Almont League and All-CIF selection, while
leading her team to the CIF Championship as a senior.
Carrillo, who is also a swimming coach at the Commerce Aquatic
Center, graduated from Loyola Marymount in 2011 with a Bachelors
degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Spanish and a minor in
Sociology.
