M. Cross Country: Bryan Ramos named Men's Assistant Coach of the Year

After leading the Cerritos College men's cross country team to a fifth place finish at the 3C2A State Championships, Bryan Ramos was voted the state's men's cross country Assistant Coach of the Year. This is the third award Ramos has received, which includes the Southern California Men's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2021 and California Community College Cross Country & Track Coaches Association Women's Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year in 2013.

Ramos will receive his award at the 5CTCA convention at the Westin in Las Vegas, NV on Sunday, August 3. The Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches of the Year will be recognized, as well as Hall of Fame Inductees.

Bryan Ramos On the year, Ramos (picured, left) and the Falcons were also just seven points away from a fourth place finish just one year after finishing 15th as a team. The team was led by the All-State finishes of Robert Guerrero in 19th and Joshua Melendez in 28th. The Falcons had a solid 50 second top five team spread despite the muddy course and placed its top five in the top 66 overall. Coach Ramos prepped the Falcons for their championship run with a fifth place team finish at the SoCal Regional and a runner-up South Coast Conference Championship.

Their top five runners finished in the top 50 at the Southern California Championships, while they finished with 46 team points at the SCC Championships. Melendez was the second overall finisher at the conference championships, with the top five runners finishing in the first 16, while the seven runners finished in the top 26 in the race.

This is the eighth season for Ramos as a Falcon assistant cross country coach.
