Cerritos College freshman pitcher Tatyana Cortez (La Serna HS), who ranks second in the state in strikeouts, was named to the 3CFCA All-State team, while freshman third baseman Marley Cortez (Gahr HS) was an All-Southern California selection. Tatyana Cortez is the 21st all-state selection in school history and second in as many years, while Marley Cortez is the 34th All-SoCal pick and third year in a row a Falcon has earned the award.

Marley Cortez was named All-SoCal Heading into the postseason, Tatyana Cortez is 21-10 overall with 23 complete games and 215 strikeouts in 211 games. Her win total is tied for fifth in the state, while she ranks third in the state in innings pitched and is fifth in the state in complete games. She tossed a five-inning no-hitter against Rio Hondo College and struck out 14 of the batters in the game. Cortez has struck out at least 10 batters in five times, which included a string of three times in four games. She's also tossed three two-hit games and has had a hand in seven shutouts.

The everyday third baseman for the Falcons, Marley Cortez leads the team in batting (.422), hits (57), doubles (13) and RBI (39) to go along with her three home runs and 18 walks. Over the course of the season, she had hitting streaks of 12, nine and eight games and recorded 14 multi-hit games, while she had four-hit games against both Pasadena City College and Los Angeles Harbor College. In the game against the Lancers, Cortez drove in six runs and has driven in nine runs in the last four games heading into the playoffs. Cortez has only struck out eight times this season and had just one game where she struck out twice in a game.
