Over the three days at the South Coast Conference Championships, the Cerritos College women's swimming team compiled 373 team points and finished in fourth place. Competing at East Los Angeles College, the Falcons will be sending one swimmer - sophomore Sydney Romero - to the 3C2A State Championships, which take place at Santa Rosa College May 1-3. She has qualified in five events, but is limited to three in which she can compete. Romero qualified for the state championships in the following events: 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke and 100-yard IM.
Day 1 - Romero (Cerritos HS/Azusa Pacific University) earned her first state championship bid with a fourth place time in the 50-yard freestyle, as she posted a time of 25.08. She also swam a leg of the Falcons two relays teams, both of which came in fourth place. The 200-yard freestyle team of Romero, Camila Oliveira (Cerritos HS), Valeria Barboza (Paramount HS) and Eleonor Curiel (Downey HS) recorded a time of 1:48.28, with the foursome order of Romero, Barboza, Oliveira and Curiel were clocked in 4:28.19.

She broke the record of 1:00.95, which was set by Stephanie Rosero in 2008, and put her in second place in the event on the day. The Falcons also saw Oliveira post a third place time in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:05.21, with Curiel taking sixth place in 1:12.16. She also posted a time of 5:15.73 in the 400-yard IM to place fourth, with Barboza posting a seventh place time of 1:20.38 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Two more fourth place finishes in relay races bookended the day, with Romero, Barboza, Oliveira and Curiel recording a time of 1:59.92 in the 200-yard medley relay. They switched things up in the 800-yard freestyle relay, as Oliveira eas joined by Sophia Wainwright (Cerritos HS), Ana Sanchez (La Mirada HS) and Jennifer Sotelo (Bellflower HS) to recorded a time of 10:06.31.
Day 3 - Romero was once again the team's top swimmer, as she placed second in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:02.42, with the Falcons having two of the top eight finishers in the 200-yard butterfly, as Curiel came in fifth place at 2:56.80, while Sotelo posted an eighth place time of 3:10.77.
